What is a polesock?
A polesock prevents ground termites from attacking wood poles below grade. The polesock is made of the Termimesh System's™ fine stainless mesh which is fabricated into a "sock" or "boot" and is slipped over the base of the wooden pole. Once the sock is installed on a wooden pole, the mesh permanently cuts off the termite's ability to reach their potential food source. The mesh is too fine for termites to squeeze through, too hard for them to chew through and too corrosive resistant to be chemically attacked by termite secretions.
The Polesock is commonly used by electric/utility companies to protect their wooden poles. It is also used by homebuilders to protect poles used in building pole homes and wooden fence posts.
The "polesock" is also referred to as the Termimesh System™, Termite Barrier For Wood Poles or Stainless Steel Termite Barrier For Wooden Poles.
Who can install polesocks?
Utility companies, departments of transportation or any entity that are committed to protecting their wood utility poles with the Termimesh Polesock will receive free training on proper installation. Free training is also extended to subcontractors who install poles for these companies.

What sizes are stocked for polesocks?
Three sizes are stocked for poles commonly installed by utility companies. They range from maximum diameters of 13.5" to 18.5" and maximum setting depths from 6'-6" to 9'-6". Any pole within that range can be protected by one of our three standard sizes. We also provide custom polesocks to accommodate any pole size. We need the measurements of the pole diameter and setting depth to quote a price. For stock and custom pricing, please contact us. Volume discounts are available.
Why should companies protect their wooden poles with polesocks?
The TERMI-MESH pole sock is pesticide free and environmentally safe which sets it apart from termite barriers using chemical deterrents. Companies who utilize Polesocks appreciate the substantial savings they will realize by ending termite damage to their wooden poles, and at the same time the good public relations it brings them on environmental issues.
